Pilot KFOR LMT Pre-deployment Training Course

KFOR logo CAPSOC – Rakitje, successful Pilot LMT (Liaison Monitoring Team) pre-deployment training course was held between November 30th and December 5th and evaluated by ACT (Allied Command Transformation) team from Norfolk.

In 2009 Republic of Croatia was accepted as a full member of NATO. Not long after this event, ACT Norfolk asked if the Croatian Army was technically able to plan and run a pre-deployment course for Liaison Monitoring Teams, being deployed to KOSOVO.

The Croatian Army PSO Center was tasked to carry out a study and produce a tentative training plan. A team from ACT Norfolk then spent a week at the training center to evaluate the plan and training concept. It was agreed that a pilot course should be run, and so a team was assembled to plan and run the course: Cpt Josip Stefanac - course director, LT Karlo Pilko - deputy course leader, Cpt Miroslav Vagner , 1LT Ian C Formstone – field training officers.

The course was divided into 2 parts. Two and a half days in the training center and two and a half days field work on a military training area.

The course was very closely monitored by NATO representatives from ACT Norfolk , JFC Naples and observers from KFOR (CO RLMT MNTF KFOR).

After two days in the training center, the entire course was transported to the military training area of Slunj. On arrival the teams were allocated areas where they had to establish a Team House. They also got to meet their translators (training center instructors). The teams then received tasks to be carried out in the field using all their skills…mediation, negotiation and many more. They also had to make their official reports to be sent to the RLMT.

The field training part of the course was intensive with many varied incidents to test the course students. All the course students said they enjoyed the course and found it very well organized and believe it will be of great use to them when they are deployed to KFOR.

The NATO observers and evaluation team expressed their thanks to the Croatian instructors for planning and running a successful course.

Altogether there were 8 students from the different NATO countries, 3 from the Hungarian Armed Forces, 2 from the Slovenian Armed Forces and 1 each from the Swedish , Finish and Belgian Armed Forces.

CAPSOC has been requested by NATO to run 3 pre-deployment courses in 2010 and 2011 as a minimum. It is planned to run them exclusively in and around the training center.
The next LMT pre-deployment courses for 2010 are planned for: 15 March - 20 March, 28 June – 03 July, 13 September – 18 September.

Commander's Welcome Address

CAPSOC Commander - Col Tomislav Pavicic
CAPSOC Commander - Col Tomislav Pavicic

It is my privilege to welcome you to our website.

International Military Operations Centre was established in 2001. Apart from more than 1000 CAF soldiers, officers and NCOs who have been trained so far, over 120 participants of foreign armed forces from 36 countries all over the world have successfully completed training at CAPSOC.

As a result of reorganization of the Croatian Armed Forces in November 2007, it changed its name into Croatian Army PSO Centre (CAPSOC). Its mission is to develop and conduct training of CAF individuals, teams and units for IMO, provide professional assistance to units conducting training for IMO and take part in evaluation of their training level.

Among various courses, CAPSOC conducts pre-deployment training for CAF officers and NCOs and participants of UN and NATO peace support missions.

Great effort made by the Republic of Croatia to approach Euro-Atlantic integrations increasingly emphasizes the role of CAPSOC in training activities for participation in IMO.

Apart from the development of new concept of training for IMO, another news on our website is the new on-line learning system - Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) - as the fastest and simplest way of acquiring and improving knowledge and preparing for courses at CAPSOC.

We hope that you will find some useful information on training and courses conducted at CAPSOC on our website and we are providing opportunity to learn something new very quickly and simply.
