INTRODUCTION
The basis of successful international military training is previous training and education focused on basic and specialized combat knowledge and skills. Generally, PSO training at IMOTC can be divided into four key areas: individual progressive and sequential PSO training, training of functional areas for PSO, pre-deployment training, advanced distributed learning (ADL).
Courses conducted in the framework of progressive and sequential training are organized for all participants of the Croatian Armed Forces (CAF) who are going to perform various IMO duties from lower to higher levels, regardless their specialties. The courses are as follows:
(1) Fundamentals of PSO Course (FPSOC)
(2) Basic PSO Course (BPSOC)
(3) United Nations Staff Officer Course (UNSOC)
(4) NATO Staff Officer Course (NATO SOC)
(5) UN Military Observer Course (UNMOC)
Courses conducted as a part of the training of functional areas are primarily intended for the participants who will join missions according to their specialty (civil-military cooperation, negotiations, etc.). The requirement for attending these courses is successfully completed BPSOC. These are as follows:
(6) Tactical Civil Military Cooperation Course (TCIMICC)
(7) Basic Negotiation Skills Course (BNSC)
(8) Field Reporters Course (FRC)
Pilot Field Reporters Course has been developed as a part of functional training in 2010. The course is intended for training of the Croatian Radio and Television employees in skills needed for field reporting from crisis areas.
(9) KFOR Liaison and Monitoring Team Pre-deployment Course (KFOR LMT PDC)
Apart from the mentioned courses, IMOTC also conducts pre-deployment training intended for the participants of NATO, UN and EU missions, ADL courses and specific pre-deployment training for Liaison and Monitoring Teams (LMT) in accordance with COMKFOR needs. The course is intended for officers and NCOs of the states which provide forces for KFOR missions.

- Conduct live-fire exercises using personal weapons.

- Use basic tactics, techniques and procedures in PSOs.
- Use conflict-resolution measures during the CF violations, as well as proper procedures with persons suspected for war-crimes.

UN SOC UN Staff Officer Course
AIM:
To prepare officers from the Croatian Armed Forces as well as international candidates to perform senior staff duties in UN HQs, and in the national contingent HQ operating under OPCON of UN commander in peace support operations.

TRAINING OUTCOMES:
- Describe the UN Crisis Response Operations strategic concept, and to analyse restrictions and interests which govern voting mandates in the UN Security Council.
- Describe the role of key civilian organizations and agencies in the operational environment.
- Explain documents which define the status of peace support forces and employ code of conduct that regulates behaviour and discipline of force members.
- Analyse and use legal and ethical principles that regulate the use of force in peace operations.
- Explain structure and capabilities of components, as well as the role of staff elements of the Combined-Joint Task Force (CJTF).
- Explain functions that enable success of forces in peace support operations (INFO-OPS, CIMIC, PSYOPS, CIS, and CSS etc.).
- Use the operational planning process rules in the capacity of senior staff officer.
- Analyse current operations in peace support operations as a staff officer and conduct adequate actions at the HQ of any level.
- Explain and apply principles and procedures of public relations, the media included.
- Apply formal mediation and other peaceful resolution of conflicts measures, and communicate with warring factions using diplomatic language in a written form.

NATO SOC NATO Staff Officer Course
AIM: preparations for performing junior staff duties in NATO HQs in PSOs and partially in stationary HQs, and for duties in the national contingent HQ operating under NATO in PSOs
DURATION: 3 weeks once a year

TRAINING OUTCOMES:
- Explain causes and consequences of modern conflicts and international community response with the aim to establish peace and security in crisis regions.
- Describe the structure and methods, especially of military decision-making process (MDMP) on the NATO strategic level.
- Describe operational planning process with the emphasis on key documents (CONOPS, OPLAN) and implement its principles and steps.
- Describe planning process for NATO crisis situations and force generation process on the level of NATO and national contingent in PSO
- Describe the basics of NATO joint operations with the emphasis on PSO (AJP-3, AJP 3.4.1, AJP 3.4.4), basics of joint logistic support, CIMIC operations and information operations, including PSY0PS in details.
- Explain generic structure of battle group or brigade in NATO PSO and individual duties of divisions, sections and apply MPMP in PSO on a tactical level.
- Apply the skills of staff, inter-personal, organizational and inter-cultural communication
- Apply the principles of planning and organizing meetings, negotiation and mediation by active use of military interpreters in PSO.
- Know the standards of map marking (APP 6A) in details, as well as the standards of using radio procedures, and sending and receiving reports in PSO.

UNMOC UN Military Observer Course
AIM:
Prepare officers from Croatian Armed Forces and international candidates to perform duties of military observers in any peace support mission.
DURATION:

KFOR LMT PDC - KFOR Liaison and Monitoring Team Pre-deployment Course
AIM:
provide military officers and NCOs being prepared for deployment to KFOR LMTs with the level of knowledge and skills required to successfully conduct LMT duties and responsibilities.

TARGET GROUP:
NATO officers and NCOs - members of Liaison and Monitoring Teams
TRAINING OUTCOMES:
- Understand the historical, cultural, religious and ethnic aspects and factors that have led to the conflicts within the Balkan Region of Europe (with special emphasis on Kosovo);
- Understand the mission, roles and responsibilities, and organisation of the KFOR LMTs.
- Have the ability to create all required reports in accordance with LMTs, and KFOR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Directives.
- Be able to apply the specific LMT interviewing techniques and skills required for the mission, and proper use of interpreters.
- Have the ability to interfere with Kosovo people (Serbs, Albanians and other ethnical groups), conduct meetings, and prepare a report based on the facts.
